Renew utilizes much of the green-space on the property as a community-use resource. We have been working alongside our neighbors for 5 years to develop the largest community garden in the area, which now includes 21 large garden beds and 5 accessible (ADA) parking lot beds. This community garden is, in our eyes, a microcosm of our overall identity and vision: bringing renewal to people, neighborhoods, and the Earth. Through gardening, we can together fight a culture of isolation by building community and connecting as neighbors around common ground. The garden can also be good for the body and soul by providing community members and Renewsters the opportunity to be outside working in the "dirt," and by offering Jesus followers spiritual formation through the practice of Creation Care.
Our first goal is to grow community!
It is our sincere hope that this will be a place of friendship and teamwork! Get to know each other, have fun, and enjoy being outside!
Where? On the north side of 164th Street SW in the field just east of Renew Church at Manor Way.
What? An organic community garden! Each person or family signs up to care for a 16x4 foot plot for
the season (March – September). Meet other gardeners!
Have fun! Learn how to grow vegetables, flowers, and fruit in the Pacific Northwest!
You choose what to grow, provide your own seeds or plants, and you take
home your harvest.
Cost? We ask gardeners to make a donation to help cover garden expenses for
the season. The 2023 season donation is $20/plot
When? The garden will re-open in March for the 2023 season. Choose one or more of the community
days to attend each week. You are welcome to tend your plot at other times too, but please join
us as at least once a month for these community work times! We’ll have lots of fun!
