What to expect on Sundays
Whether you’ve attended church your entire life or never been at all, we know it’s not easy visiting a church for the first time. You’re not quite sure what to expect and you probably have a lot of questions. We at Renew want to give you the best experience possible.
Here’s some information that should help:
WHEN IS THE SERVICE?
We have one service that meets at 10:00am on Sunday mornings.
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
Wear what you want! We welcome jeans, t-shirts, shorts, slacks, dresses, bowties … whatever! You’ll see a few folks dressed up; you’ll find most folks dressed pretty casually–even the pastor. The only rule we have is: Come as you are!
HOW DO I GET THERE?
Renew is located at 2721 164th ST SW in the Northpointe area of Lynnwood. We’re on the corner of 164th ST SW and Manor Way just kitty corner from Five Guys Burger and MOD Pizza. For more detailed information and a map, see above.
WHAT’S THE SERVICE LIKE?
First of all, you won’t be pointed out or made to feel awkward in any way. You will have a meaningful, stress-free experience in a safe place…and you might even have some fun!
Each service is about 90 minutes. During the first 15 minutes of the service you’ll enjoy some modern worship music led by our Worship Band. We’ll have the words to each song up on the screen, so you can sing as much as you feel comfortable!
After a few songs, some readings, and a prayer, we’ll send the kids who are 3 years-old to 4th grade out with their Renew Kids teachers who will take them to kids church for the rest of the service. Then we’ll take some to say hi to the folks around us and you can refill on coffee. One of our leaders will then welcome everyone and mention a couple of quick announcements. After a Call to Worship and Bible reading, the pastor will come up and preach. Each message/sermon is about 30 minutes long and digs into the scriptures in a way that is engaging, eye-opening, challenging, and applicable to everyday life. After the teaching, we’ll generally sing another one or two songs to close.
We offer Communion on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Communion takes place immediately following the sermon. Also, every 3rd Sunday of the month we have a potluck lunch following service in the fellowship hall downstairs.
